This is a position filled in accordance with the conditions of the project “Biography of Fake News with a Touch of AI: A Dangerous Phenomenon through the Prism of Modern Human Sciences”, registration number CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008724.

Job description

The researcher will participate in:

• Collection and evaluation of quantitative data in hard-to-reach populations,
• Implementation of research results into practice,
• Co-solving complex scientific research tasks within a specific project,
• Collaboration in a research team with international researchers,
• Active publication activity according to field requirements and in accordance with the standards of creative activity at the University of Ostrava,
• Development of innovative scientific research activities at the University of Ostrava,
• Publication of results obtained in the given research area.

Qualification requirements – required

• Postdoctoral researcher in the field of social sciences – Ph.D. degree,
• Experience with research in hard-to-reach populations,
• Expert focus on information behavior, digital divide, information poverty,
• Experience with quantitative research and evaluation of quantitative data,
• Independent publication activity in Jimp journals,
• Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team.

The expected form of employment

• 50% (or by agreement)

The duration of employment

• Fixed-term, until 31 December 2028 (for the duration of the project)

The expected start date

• 1 May 2026 or by agreement

Wage conditions

• According to the valid wage regulations of the University of Ostrava

The language in which the selection procedure will be conducted

• Czech/English

Information about the selection procedure

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the personal presence of applicants by assessment of submitted materials by the selection committee.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Studies reserves the right to invite only selected applicants for a personal interview. At the same time, she reserves the right not to select any applicant. The selection procedure may be shortened, canceled, or repeated at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty.
