Job description

A professor, associate professor, or assistant professor who is appointed to the position of department head is an academic employee who, within the scope of their agreed-upon duties, performs related teaching and creative activities at the department and is also a manager who is primarily responsible for:

  • providing teaching staff for all levels of study programs (bachelor′s, master′s, and doctoral) and participating in their development;
  • the direction and implementation of research, grant activities, and publication strategy;
  • internationalization, promotion, and presentation of the workplace, including the popularization of professional results.

Qualification requirements – required

  • University education – minimum completed doctoral degree in Psychology or Clinical Psychology or related fields, or appointment as associate professor or professor in Psychology, Educational and School Psychology or related fields (appointments outside the Czech Republic must be recognized in accordance with applicable Czech regulations or related international agreements).
  • Knowledge of English at level B2.
  • Knowledge of Czech at level C2.
  • EU research level in the field: R3 – Established / R4 – Leading and related publishing activity.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior management (leadership) position in a university environment, including responsibility in particular for:
    • strategic management and development of an academic workplace or its organizational unit,
    • creation and implementation of long-term plans and strategic priorities in accordance with the university′s strategy,
    • personnel policy, management, evaluation, and systematic professional development of academic and non-academic staff,
    • budget management and responsibility for the workplace′s financial management, including multi-source financing,
    • management and coordination of project teams (national and international research and development projects), including responsibility for their professional and administrative management,
    • initiation, preparation, and implementation of grant projects and development of the workplace′s project portfolio,
    • management of study programs, preparation and implementation of accreditation procedures, and implementation of an internal quality assurance and evaluation system,
    • active participation in the academic self-governing bodies of the university (e.g., academic senate, scientific council, departmental council) and experience with their functioning,
    • experience with the processes of the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (NAÚ) and with meeting quality standards in educational and creative activities,
    • support for internationalization, the development of scientific and research activities, and cooperation with the application sphere.

The expected form of employment

  • Full-time

The duration of employment

  • The employment contract is concluded for a fixed term with a 3-month probationary period. The employee is assigned to the position of academic staff and is entrusted with the function of head of department.

The expected start date

  • 1 July 2026 (or as agreed)

  • Salary is based on classification according to the university′s internal salary regulations and also depends on the candidate′s experience and involvement in research grant activities.
