AnotationERAS - Enhanced Recovery After Surgery or fast track surgery is the concept of perioperative care that includes a set of procedures leading to a faster and safer postoperative course after planned operations. Despite unambiguous scientific evidence from clinical practice on the benefits of this comprehensive care, the introduction of ERAS in individual workplaces, faces many pitfalls. During a 2-year study, the effectiveness of selected aspects of the ERAS protocol with the traditional treatment regimen in patients hospitalized at designated workplaces surgical ICU. In postoperative care, the ERAS concept is primarily early oral or enteral intake, early rehabilitation, optimal analgesia, early removal of non-functional drains and nasogastric probes. Emphasis is also placed on non-aggressive fluid replacement and early removal of the urinary catheter. Selected patients will be monitored for length of stay at ICU, in health facility, incidence of postoperative complications and return to functional activity (restoration of peristalsis, walking ability, restoration of full oral intake). The entire study is aimed at improving the quality of the treatment and nursing process, shortening the time of hospitalization, to reduce postoperative complications and reduce the cost of treatment and hospitalization surgical patients. It is possible to compare the results of the dissertation with the results of foreign studies with the same focus. If the positive effect of the new ERAS perioperative care system is proven, experience and results can be a source of knowledge for other surgical sites.
