AnotationBreast carcinoma is the most common oncological disease in women in the Czech Republic, its incidence is increasing. Current treatments offer a variety of options. These include surgical treatment, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormonal treatment, and biological treatment. Oncological illness is the cause of a number of consequences. During the illness, the somatic, psychic and social situations of the patient change. At present, a wide range of evaluation tools from multidimensional questionnaires to questionnaires related to specific treatment-related issues, such as questionnaires relating to body self-image, are available in the world for women who have undergone breast cancer treatment. Questionnaires available in the Czech Republic in the Czech language are only multidimensional. Breast cancer and its treatment can have a significant impact on body image because breasts are a symbol of femininity and sexuality in our society. Research in this area is not sufficient. In practice, we encounter a lack of reliable and valid measuring tools for body image assessment, which is suitable for use in the field of breast cancer. The goal is to create a valid tool for measuring body image and consequently its impact on body image and self-esteem in women with breast cancer. The BIBCQ questionnaire is not known in the Czech Republic and should be the subject of future research.
